Cotton wood Campground 2 miles south of Sierraville/18 miles north of I-80 at Truckee, Ca. on State Route 89 is a USFS facility open from Memorial Day to Halloween. It features drive up camping, pit toilets, concrete fire pits with grates, non-potable water, a year round stream. One mile north, Sierra Valley Gun Club maintains a shooting range with trap, 25 yard pistol and .22; long range rifle shooting. It features 42 spaces, half of which are fairly well isolated from the road noise.
